Cathay Pacific Provides Internet and Cellular Services

Cathay Pacific announced it would provide broadband Internet access service, cellular phone, and live TV throughout the fleet.

In agreement with Panasonic Avionics, eXConnect broadband systems that have a speed of up to 50 megabytes will use Hong Kong-flagged airlines are at the beginning of the year 2012. The airline will also provide services for mobile phones.

These services can be accessed all electronic equipment for passengers, plus the seatback screens that broadcast the program live broadcast TV with pay rates-per-view for special occasions.

"We believe that being connected is now an essential part of everyday life, not only for business purposes but also to stay connected with family and friends," said Alex McGowan from Cathay Pacific, as reported by AFP.

"This service enables the passengers to stay connected as they want while enjoying the exceptional service from Cathay Pacific and Dragonair," he added.

Of course, these extra services is not free. The airline was established in 1946 will include the price list when the new system starts.

The crew can also monitor and transmit data in real-time flight operations.

Cathay claim as the pioneer airlines that use broadband systems in Asia, as well as for the first time in the world, applying it throughout the fleet flying.

Several other airlines, Delta and Virgin Airlines, helped renew their fleet with a wi-fi system.
