Hollywood director Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald work together to select a video from YouTube users who made a documentary for the future generations of the global community in one day, YouTube said on Wednesday.

Race Documentary called "Life in a Day," will select samples from 20 people around the world that captures moments of their daily life on July 24. They will become co-director of the film and aired in the premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, held in January.

Macdonald, who criticized the movie "The Last King of Scotland," will direct a feature film length documentary and Scott, as the Oscar-winning "Gladiator" and numerous other hits films like "Blade Runner," "Alien," and "Thelma & Louise," as producer.

Macdonald documentary film, "One Day in September," about which Israeli athletes were taken hostage when the 1972 Munich Olympics, which won the Oscar for best documentary in 2000.

"'Life in a Day' is a time capsule that will tell future generations what it was like to live on July 24, 2010," Macdonald said in a statement quoted by Reuters.

"This is a unique experiment in social filmmaking, and a better way to collect a limited set of samples instead of involving the community in the online world.

To participate, YouTube users must upload their recordings to youtube.com / lifeinaday.

The film is the last activity between YouTube and groups working in the arts and entertainment. Last month the prestigious Guggenheim museum launched a competition to be the most creative online video show dedicated from YouTube users.
