The Wider and Powerful iMac

As a machine designed for workers in graphic design and multimedia lovers, Apple's iMac comes with a wide screen size. Two new iMac product line was launched Tuesday (7/27/2010) comes with a choice of 21.5-inch screen and 27. Wow, glad to see that big screen.

Not only the wide screen, the new iMac also features an 'innards' which makes it more powerful. Processors using the latest generation of Intel Core chip I3, i5 and i7 is the latest line of processors today. Graphics card is also better than its predecessor with support that delivers the quality of ARI Radeon perfect for viewing games, pictures, and three-dimensional applications.

21.5-inch iMac size will have three options namely the Intel Core processor I3 3.06 GHz processor, Intel Core 3.2 GHz processor with I3, and Intel Core processor with 3.6 GHz i5. All processors support Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost also has 3.4 MB of cache.

While the 27-inch iMac with the screen will be available with a choice of four different processor i.e. 3.2 GHz or 3.6 GHz chips are the same as 21.5-inch model, Intel Core 2.8 GHz quad-core i5 that has cache 3.8 MB, as well as Intel Core i7 quad core processor with 2.93 GHz with 3.8 MB cache.

For 21.5-inch model offers better graphics using ATI Radeon HD with 256MB GDDR3 memory or the ATI Radeon HD 5670 with 512MB GDDR3 memory. For 27-inch model that uses dual-core processors are equipped with the ATI Radeon HD 5670 with 512MB GDDR3 memory, while 27-inch model is equipped with quad-core processors with ATI Radeon 5750 1GB GDDR5 memory.

All models have a FireWire 800 port, four USB 2.0 ports, SDXC memory card slot that supports up to 64GB memory capacity of 2 TB, AirPort Extreme 802.11n WiFi access that is compatible with 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, and connectors 10 / 100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet. New iMac also comes with stereo speakers, headphone / optical mini jack audio output, a digital audio line-in/optical mini jack audio, and microphone. For video, the Mini Display Port output supports DVI, VGA, and dual-link DVI. 27-inch model can also be used as an input port DisplayPort. There's also the iSight camera embedded in the top panel.

Default, all the models equipped with 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM 4GB memory card in the form of two 2 GB each on two SO-DIMM slots. However, there are actually four SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 16 GB of RAM upgrades. 500 GB hard drive option or an upgrade option for TB and provides up to 2 TB hard drive.

Measuring 5.21 inches with a starting price 1.199 dollars and 27 inch sizes with prices starting in 1699 dollars. All models are available at the Apple Store outlets.
