Chrome OS = Careless Computing

Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software Foundation, launched a scathing criticism to the Chrome OS. Google's operating system is called harmful.

Stallman was not people at random if talking about the operating system. He is the originator of the GNU operating system, UNIX OS that relied upon making of Linux.

According to Stallman, the greatest danger of Chrome OS is the insistence of storing data on a server and not on each of these computers. Though the servers were not in control of the user.

"In the United States, you lose your legal rights if you store the data in company-owned machines and not private property. The police must have a letter from the court to search the data in your home, but on the server, you do not need to know anything. In fact, they could do it without a letter from the court, "said Stallman.

The concept of Chrome OS is consistent with the term 'cloud computing'. All the data, and even applications, in Chrome OS is stored on the server. Stallman says, the term Cloud Computing is not suitable anymore. "Perhaps the term 'careless computing' would be more suitable," he said.

On the other hand, Stallman liked the fact that Chrome OS is built upon GNU operating system / Linux. "In essence, the Chrome OS is the operating system GNU / Linux. But, it was presented without the usual applications, and set in order to reduce and override installation of application," he added.
