Cisco launches Wireless-N Broadband Router with Storage Link Linksys WRT160NL which uses Linux as its operating system, complete the WRT54GL which is quite popular.
Designed like any other Cisco router by Linksys, Linux-based router supports third party firmware and designed specifically for wireless network enthusiasts.
Router also supports R-SMA antenna connector, which allows users to replace the standard antenna and install an external antenna. Interestingly, this router also provides a storage link that enables users to connect a storage device to the router via USB to share content.
"The use of open platforms (Linux), this allows the addition of features or upgrades with how to update the firmware in the router," said Tang Boon Ping, Regional Sales Director for Cisco Consumer Products Asia in his testimony, Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
Meanwhile, the ports in a Storage Link enables users to connect storage device with a USB connection to the router. Music content, video or data can be placed in the network through a media server.
Media servers can deliver content to a computer or AV UPnP media adapter. To note, the Port Storage Link also supports the FAT16 and NTFS file systems in both read and write modes.
This device has a powerful 400MHz processor, WRT160NL equipped with 8MB of flash memory, 32MB DDRAM, the Wi-Fi security protection, and two units of R-SMA antenna connector.
"WRT160NL is the successor of the WRT54GL, which combines the Linux OS, technology, 802.11n, USB storage link, and modern design of better," said Boon.
"We have seen not only as a substitute WRT160NL WRT54GL when the markets move to Wireless N, but also can be an ideal choice for customers who are looking for a router with high capacity at low cost," he said.
In terms of price, the Linksys by Cisco Wireless-N Broadband Router with Storage Link WRT160NL has been available in the distributor Linksys by Cisco at a price of U.S. $ 100
