A new program will soon be released that can scan the image of certain individuals in social networks.

Face.com, Israeli company that has been testing a product that works by scanning the faces and the position of the eyes, nose and mouth in a photograph to find the same person. It claimed 90 percent accuracy.

This is no different from Google's search feature in Picasa, but the difference is more important that the search is done online.

"In the end we had to take a degree of personal responsibility for our online identity and how much we place on the internet," said Dylan Sharpe from Big Brother Watch, as reported by Softpedia.

"However, people who will be most affected by this kind of software are young children and teenagers who have 'embraced' old social networks. They are also not aware of the dangers and the value of privacy," he added.

According to this software is a double-edged sword of technology on the one hand can be a tool to track what people are doing with your images. On the other hand, can be used to track you and to create a comprehensive profile.

"The most serious danger arises when this technology falls into the hands of stalkers or those with criminal intent. But will most likely be used by the tax authorities, police, local government and insurance investigators," he said.

The developers say the program simply scanned images of people who already have access, through a friend on Facebook
