IBM Hardware Company prepares to bring a computer chip that is claimed to be the fastest in the world. Reportedly, the chip will run at up to 5.2 GHz buck.

Z196 microprocessor, called manufactured using 45 nanometer technology (nm) SOI, the latest iteration is expected possessed the power of IBM mainframes: the zEnterprise 196. So that was launched by Big Blue, Tuesday (07/09/2010).

According to IBM z196 microprocessor is a four-core chip that contains 1.4 billion transistors on the surface of the transistor an impressive 512-square millimeter (mm).

This chip also uses IBM technology DRAM (eDRAM), thus facilitating the emplacement of dense DRAM cache, or a component on the same chip with high-speed microprocessors.

"In terms of performance, zEnterprise System is the most powerful commercial technology in IBM systems," explained a company spokesperson.

"Core server in zEnterprise System, called zEnterprise 196, contains 96 of the world's fastest processor, most powerful microprocessor, capable of running more than 50 billion instructions per second," he said.
